ATH (All Time High)

Modified on Tue, 1 Apr at 9:41 AM

What Does ATH (All Time High) Mean?

ATH stands for “All Time High” – the highest price a financial asset (such as a stock, commodity, or cryptocurrency) has ever reached since it began trading.

Example: Bitcoin

For Bitcoin (BTC), the current All Time High was reached on January 20, 2025, with a record price of $108,786 USD.

That means:
Since Bitcoin was launched in 2009, this is the highest value it has ever had.

For comparison:
As of March 2025, the current Bitcoin price is around $87,374 USD, which is approximately 80% of its ATH.

Why Is the ATH Important?

  • A new ATH is often seen as a sign of strong market momentum and investor confidence.

  • Traders closely watch ATH levels, as they often trigger significant price movements – either further gains or corrections.

  • It serves as a psychological threshold: breaking above it can spark optimism, while hitting it may lead some to take profits, causing a dip.
